The day has finally come, Apple users -- your Mac SlingPlayer client is officially at v1.0 (and out of beta), and supports all of Apple's Human Interface Guidelines. Did we mention the Apple TV support? Yep, does that too. Get it while the gettin's good -- it's free, but as you well know, the box'll cost ya.

Nice! Hopefully this will run faster on my Powerbook. Slingplayer was very slow before when making the remote show/dissapear in full screen mode.

Great news! Now if only we could get Sling Media to not rip us off for the mobile software...

This is neat and all, but really, what is the point? I can understand situations when this would be useful, but if Apple TV just gets all it's stuff from your mac via iTunes, and iTunes is already on your mac, why would you then want to connect to it remotely when all the media is already on your mac to begin with?

Kiteless - You do realize people can have more than 1 computer right? For instance, in my situation, i have a mac mini as my main desktop with all my music/movies connected to via an external HD... If i had an apple tv with the sling, I would have access to my whole library on my laptop ANYWHERE...

Sling support for the AppleTV is excellent.
The Apple TV is impressive enough as it is. With this extra added feature, traveling will be a bit easier. Photo-slide shows of my kids from the road. Nice!
Needless to say, I'm really enjoying my ATV. But if you're in doubt about getting one, Shelly Palmer wrote a pretty good piece on the box, for Media 3.0:

It's where TV is headed.

Sling is the BOMB DIGGY! Slinging to an HTC 8525 on a fat HSDPA 3G Pipe right now (watching Run's House off the home DVR). Said it before and I'll say it again, RUN DON'T WALK to the nearest e/retailer and get one before Sling attracts the gaze of some monster corporation like the all seeing eye of Sauron bent on destroying "free" time and location shifting of content. "AFTER ALL THIS TYPE OF ACTIVITY SHOULD COME WITH AN ADDED MONTHLY FEE"! (Their words). Now RUN!!

For me, the software seems to not be properly syncing audio and video. anyone else have this problem?
Kiteless @ Apr 30th 2007 7:00PM
Josh: You are answering your own question. As stated in my origional post "... can understand situations when this would be useful, but..." Yes I can see the rare situation when someone has sort of a media server and they are feeding their TV with Apple TV connected to it over their home network. While any self respecting geek like me or you has all kinds of media and tech at home, most people just have 1 computer. I have found that this is especially true for most mac owners.
Anyway I was just trying to say that I felt that this was a bit redundant for most users.

Now I'm waiting for them to surprise us with an iPhone W/HSDPA. Your entire library of movie's and music anywhere you have a wireless signal...wow... Talk about turning the tech world upside down...
