It's funny because I recently saw an article for PC World saying that the OQO Model 1 was one of the top 25 worst products of all time, lol.

I'd really love to have one, but is it really worth it? For the average consumer, you're better off getting a cheap laptop. Toshiba laptops go for $599 and less these days which is impressive in my eyes.

You should get your credit card out, then, because from TFA "upgraded WWAN with EV-DO Rev. A from Verizon and Sprint", that looks like 3g to me.

I have had an 02 since April, and I can say it was worth every penny I paid for it. It is, by far, the best mobile device I have ever owned. I finally found a worthy successor to my venerable HP 200LX!!!

I've been seriously considering the OQO2. The 32GB SSD is pretty small though (and expensive). However, I would like to see a head-to-head, battery life show-down between the SSD and the traditional hard drive to see what you actually gain for the huge price premium.
Otherwise, Rev. A is a welcome upgrade. I would have liked to see a 2GB RAM upgrade for optimal use with Vista. Also after playing with the OQO2 in Microcenter, I would have liked to see something done about the fan noise. Maybe current owners can comment. The fan noise is really pretty loud for such a small device.

Hook it up guys, side by side battery runtime comparison. While your at it, throw in boot time comparison for the SSD and HDD.

I was leaning towards purchasing the OQO Model 2 but then I started hearing about the HTC Shift. Now it looks like it will not do some of the amazing things I thought it would like WM 6.
With the SSD option on OQO my interest has been shifted back to the OQO. If the SSD equiped model will acheive anything close to instant on capability then to me it will be well worth the storage sacrifice. Two gig SD cards are relatively cheap these days.
If I can hit a button and have the OQO spring to life allowing me to enter some data in one of my MS Excel forms then quickly return to a state where little or no battery power is being consumed this would be the ultimate device.
I can almost do this on my Treo 700p but some of my forms have merged cells and the Treo chokes on them.
I have no intention of leaving my full size laptop at home when I travel but now the laptop can stay in the hotel room and I can just carry the OQO in my brief case or even a jacket pocket. Would not have had the jacket pocket option with the Shift.

I'm furious at OQO. I bought my Model 15 weeks ago, and it has been having lock-up problems since the day I received it. It's still under the 1-year warranty, so I thought I was covered, right? Well, it turns out that their tech supports is very unreliable. In retrospect, I *should* have returned it within the 30-day money back guarrantee and suffered the 15% restocking fee, but it's far too late for that now.
I've re-imaged it twice myself, and for the past 15 weeks, have been following OQO tech support's instructions in trying to figure out the issue. I've even sent it in for repair, and all they did was add scratches to it, and send it back to me still broken! I've been paying $60/month on top of that to Sprint, for a device that I cannot use for more than 15 minutes before it locks up!
Because of all of this, I recently asked for a return-for-credit, or at least allow me to upgrade to the newer model (I offered to pay the difference), but after 20 days, I got denied. They're saying that I'm effectively stuck with this broken unit, but that they're willing to re-image it themselves (never mind that they've already scratched it up)!
I'm fed up with this. 15 weeks of this is enough. I urge you to heed this warning and STAY AWAY from OQO! Even if you get a unit that works properly right out of the box, if anything goes wrong with it, you're likely to get tremendous headaches dealing with their tech support/customer support.
