Dynamic Life shirt clearly shows you're taken by a fellow nerd
Oh sure, we've seen proximity-based clothing before, but for the couple who just can't help but express their intense adoration for technology (and each other), we present the $24.99 8-bit Dynamic Life shirt. This wonderful piece of garb, which is obviously designed to be purchased in pairs, sports six whole hearts on the chest. When your lover strays, both sets of hearts slowly fade away, but when he / she comes running back for one more steamy round of Wii Boxing, the combined dozen lights up to signify precisely how geeky you two truly are. You do know what's coming in a fortnight, right?

No. What is coming in a fortnight?
NHAnimator @ Feb 1st 2008 10:13AM
Hate to think what symbol they use on the pants.

Have you had so many bad experiences on valentines day that you have completely forgotten it exists to protect yourself from future hurt?
Smart People Play Tuba @ Feb 1st 2008 10:20AM
I assume that they make these in XL, XXL, XXXL, XXXXL, etc. since they're targeted toward geek couples.
ZING!
applefreak @ Feb 1st 2008 10:25AM
haha, that is awsome.... but what if I dont have a girlfriend? what then?
Jules @ Mar 26th 2008 12:28PM
put it on your pc tower ... lol
Mike @ Feb 1st 2008 10:29AM
LOL! This has go to be the best example of completely useless, but fun, tech that I have seen in a long time.
STUD HUNK @ Feb 1st 2008 10:30AM
My baby bought me one for me birthday. Love it, but just a little too tight.
StrangeBum @ Feb 1st 2008 10:37AM
This is so cool! I don't know why. I guess my geekdom stretches that far.
I would totally get a pair of these for my girlfriend and I if we end up becoming more serious. She would probably get a kick out of this.
And if anyone gets this for a Valentine's Day gift, look at one bright side of it, you aren't just spending all your money on her (because that's what is expected today, guys get screwed) but you can also share the gift with yourself.
Kind of like lingerie, it's 'for her' technically, am I right?
Dark Light @ Feb 1st 2008 10:43AM
Only 30 bucks!!? That's practically the price of a plain teeshirt nowadays!
CaptSaltyJack @ Feb 1st 2008 10:43AM
Now, here's a question. Are pairs of these shirts matched to each other? In other words, let's say you buy one for you and your woman. But then some other woman wanders along who happens to have the shirt too. Do the hearts fill up then?
looseinthedeuce @ Feb 1st 2008 10:47AM
@ Matt O
Joe was making fun of the use of the word "fortnight".
Have you had so many bad experiences with sarcasm that you have completely forgotten it exists to protect yourself from future hurt?
Caleb Andrews @ Feb 1st 2008 10:47AM
Sigh...poor Geekologie...
Blaktornado @ Feb 1st 2008 10:49AM
@STUD HUNK (since the reply link just redirects me to Engadget home for some reason...)
The shirt or your girlfriend?
Ba-dum cha!
CanCar @ Feb 1st 2008 10:56AM
What´s coming? I don´t know either
NHAnimator @ Feb 1st 2008 11:01AM
Should be called a 2-bit shirt. It either lights up 2.5 hearts, or 6. That appears to be it. They also suggest that 6 feet apart is "hugging distance". Maybe if you're an albatross.
JPN @ Feb 1st 2008 11:05AM
Hmmm, what's the technology behind this? I doubt it's BT...

Jewel @ Feb 1st 2008 11:16AM
@ applefreak
On the site where you buy the shirts, you can also purchase a transmitter that will make your hearts fill up. So you can put it on your real true love, your Wii. :)
But my boyfriend and I are totally getting these.
tcc3 @ Feb 1st 2008 11:22AM
When the hearts are low does it make that maddening "beep beep" sound?
octo @ Feb 1st 2008 11:31AM
Looks like it's for playing Zelda in real life.
Eamon @ Feb 1st 2008 11:31AM
NHAnimator: watch the video. The hearts light up sequentially.
underwhelm @ Feb 1st 2008 11:46AM

Itaint Mebabe @ Feb 1st 2008 11:58AM
W.r.t. whether MORE than 2 shirts interacting - the website strongly suggests they do - that is, buy three and they interact, buy 10 and they interact, that hot chick walks by while yer with yer lady and she's wearing one of these, they light.
kal326 @ Feb 1st 2008 12:10PM
Huh, I think the Wifi finder shirt they have would be a bit more useful. Though this might be a good gag for our wedding/hooneymoon in March.
Greg @ Feb 1st 2008 12:16PM
@dark light - it IS for only one shirt
Celanor @ Feb 1st 2008 1:51PM
@JPN Probably RFID tags or some similar cheap wireless solution, maybe small radios since these will most likely have batteries...
DON'T FORGET TO REMOVE BATTERIES BEFORE WASHING
Matt E. @ Feb 1st 2008 3:13PM
Totally useless for real geeks. Geeks only need one t-shirt. The other can be a sticker for their computer.

Prove me if I am wrong. Guys will try to avoid it while gals will hint the guys to get it. Indeed, it is a cool thing to have, especially the days are numbered. Would appreciate if more designs available.
