Samsung YP-S3 previewed on video
Looks like the folks who got a shot of Samsung's forthcoming YP-S2 also got a preview of the YP-S3, a mid-range flash-based player due in June with 2, 4, and 8GB capacities and 1.8-inch screen. The video's after the break for those itching to check it out.

nice but I am concerned it may be difficult to see the colored navigation lights outdoors. Zune has this item beat IMO.

"LCD Display"
Geek rage!
Max @ Mar 16th 2008 11:47PM
There's an LCD display on the ATM machine outside the Department of Redundancy Department building, outside.

I'll pass... I'm stuck between a Fuze, a E100, and a flash Zune.
Hugh Newmark @ Mar 16th 2008 7:47PM
I don't know the price range of this player, but IMO the Zune has most players beat hands down. Both the flash and solid state Zunes amaze me. Yes, I've owned iPods, Zens, and all sorts of other players, so [Apple] fanboys, please go easy on me, I'm not saying your product sucks.
Sly @ Mar 16th 2008 7:58PM
fuze is great except for its god awful interface... what is with the same sky blue menu that they keep holding on to... hello it is ugly please make it go away.
other than that fuze is great.
Metkis @ Mar 16th 2008 8:11PM
Well I suppose H3mod might be configured for the Fuze so I could customize the interface myself. I realize overall the E100 has less going for it even though I personally like the interface and control scheme. The Zune has the most potential with games coming to it and support for a audio and videocasts, but with my Zune 30, I simply HATE the software and consider it sadly underwhelming and uncomfortable. Since I am more tech savy, I'm MUCH happier with a drag and drop mass storage device, which I realize both the E100 and the Fuze have over the Zune.
The E100 has interface over the Fuze unless H3mod does come to the Fuze. Both are significantly cheaper than the Zune and I think aesthetics as well, although size-wise, I'm not completely sure.
E100 is reportedly slower and not as good sounding as previous iRiver releases, but perhaps if iRiver updates the E100 things could both smooth out and lead to the introduction of a themeable interface.
I think I'll wait until the fire cools down and consumers start buzzing about features... then see who pulls through. I don't want a iPod because I don't really like the design of the new nano (that scroll wheel is too uncomfortable and the coverflow is near useless on the device) and would rather a smaller flash-based player than the larger classic cousin. As far as features goes, personally the flash Zune is more appealing...
We'll see I suppose.

webon @ Mar 17th 2008 12:09AM
whats 2 GB good for this days?
Chebwa @ Mar 17th 2008 12:30AM
Absolutely nothin.'
The Dude @ Mar 17th 2008 12:56AM
Good for those on a budget, apparently. The Shuffle still comes in 1 and 2GB iterations so, if the YP-S3 2GB model hits in that price range it'll be a good alternative.
The Dude @ Mar 17th 2008 12:57AM
*A good alternative that you know, actually has a screen and all.
James @ Mar 17th 2008 2:05AM
Ehh, I'd stick it in her butt

2GB music player (just forget the video part, wich in this case is crappy anyway) is good enough for me...
You know, not everyone (esp. those of us on a 3rd world country) is wealthy enough to spend more than $100 on a music player

Wow, YP-S3 seems sleek. I have YP-S5 which has a built-in sliding speaker. Based on the description of the video clip, S3 seems to have similar functions to S5 such as user interface, touch pad buttons, video file playback, ete. S3 seems very slim.
sam Y @ Mar 17th 2008 8:14AM
I think S3 is originated from YP-K3.
It has a sleek slim design and OLED LCD, touch pad.
I expect it to be more costeffective.
