Though it may not be the most useful thing in the world, it certainly proves that billboards and the like CAN (and hopefully will) be sustainable technologies. Think about Times Square, or Shibuya – the energy use is enormous.
If, as a race, we are committed to making our activities green(er), then we have an obligation to this kind of stuff.

sustainable? Think beyond the energy to run this thing, to the energy needed to manufacture, install and eventually dispose of it. Think of the background computing needed to operate it, and the creation of more visual pollution.

ScooterDe, everything is 'green' nowadays! Computers are 'green' all of a sudden if we bling the externals with a bit of basic wood paneling and tell them it's using less watts than the predecessor. Oh yes! No guilt computing at last!
This sign is green because batteries and screen are made out of left-overs from hemp production, naturally. No toxic materials in manufacture at all.
And as we know solar cells assemble themselves as a by-product of photosynthesis.
Why it's a veritable self-sufficient organic system, as GreenPix's website puts it. And just look at the resolution on this monster. Tell me you've seen better. Tetris here we come.

Flashpoint, please take some time to read about Tibetan history before speaking. Tibet has been a part of China since the Yuan Dynasty, which was roughly 700 years ago.
Learn from independent sources, not CNN / BBC, or Xinhua / CCTV for that matter.

I am not saying Tibet must be independent from China. I am saying there must be a vote, people's voice must be heard, freedom of religion and freedom of speech must be respected. No one should be imprisoned or beaten up for expressing their opinion. Otherwise it's an evil dictatorship hosting these games. An evil dictatorship swimming in cash is still an evil dictatorship. It's interesting how china considers so many countries their provinces, and seeing once genghis khan rules the whole continent I'm guessing they consider half the world also 'rebellious provinces of china'? I think the conquests included iraq and pakistan and such, and parts of europe, so yeah they could easily lay claim on everything then eh.
Meanwhile the legitimate leader of china had to flee to taiwan so it's china that's the rebellious province themselves really, ironically.

In China resistors are not allowed.
If the building was full of resistors it would be surrounded by tanks and you wouldn't be allowed to show it on the news.
It looks like China has just perfected THE 60's,
and YES, you will make a statement if you boycott. You will prove that some americans are aware of the existance of other countries. (not just as an option in the food court at the mall)
