RAmos V8 spotted in the wild with smaller screen, less storage
Just when we were all excited about seeing a RAmos V8 in the wild, it turns out the PMP has had a bit of shrinkage. Instead of the generous 4.3-inch screen we expected, the final unit is listed as having a more realistic 3-incher. Meanwhile, instead of the 16GB of storage for which we lusted, this unit has a measly 4GB. Now, it's entirely possible that this is an entry-level unit at just 599 Yuan ($86 US), but we still feel a bit cheated. Other confirmed specs include a 400 x 240 resolution at 26K colors along with -- get this -- TV output. Supported formats include MP3, WMA, FLAC, APE, AVI, and RM/RMVB.

400 x 240 on 4.3 inches would look terrible anyway
Aguiluz @ Jun 7th 2008 2:16PM
But it's gold at $86.
Striker @ Jun 7th 2008 1:40PM
Only 26k colors? That low end Philips Touchscreen phone does 256k.

That RMVB support is crucial to Asian Consumers as the predominant video format online in Asian space is RMVB.

I've always found .rm (which is basically a container for rmvb) to have fairly good quality when it comes to streaming, but very little use other than that.

Hard to find fault at that price $86 US
Now what's this Microsoft PlayFX again?
bob e @ Jun 7th 2008 2:16PM
I just noticed it is named 'iClick'.
Oh and PlayFX features autovolume for automatic normalization of songs in your playlist, 3D headphones and Pure Bass.
One thing that bothers me about my Zune is it has no autovolume. Some songs are fine at 6 while others I need to play at 11 !
Kelvin @ Jun 7th 2008 11:52PM
iClick is kinda operation method which copy D-Click from iriver
nothing special, the only difference is:
iriver distribute 4 physical keys around the device
RaMOS use 4 soft key

If this thing holds to the exchange rate price of $86 then it would be something to think about if it actually sells in the US.

Believe me, bottom of the barrel doesnt even cover these guys. cheap? yes. good? not even close.
loosely_coupled @ Jun 7th 2008 3:21PM
This thing is dirt cheap, but what an iPod Touch rip-off!
- Glossy black
- minimalist "slate" design with tapered edges.
- same proportions and shape with screen aligned to the top, and roughly 2 inches of casing under the screen.
- no functional elements other than a large touchscreen and a central button.

What is it with you people??

I say we have international "Ban Mac users" day, we ban their user agents, and see what the internet would be like without the rabid ramblings of Apple fanboys.
Striker @ Jun 7th 2008 9:22PM
That would be the greatest day of my life. Wait for it... Here comes clak to tell us how great Mac users are.
Zorque @ Jun 7th 2008 8:13PM

Kelvin @ Jun 7th 2008 11:46PM

Sparrow @ Jun 12th 2008 9:07AM
