You really have to wonder why these companies want their customers to be the last of the geek race. Making us look as dorky as possible to ensure we don't procreate may not hurt your current sales but what about 10 or 20 years from now? If we don't produce the next crop of geeks, where's your company profits then?

It's a "printer" that saves your documents to a file.
Now, why you want that instead of just hitting "save" I dono...

This device prints straight on the packaging, hence the 'paperless', I quote:
3. Roll device across package to apply a fast-drying, smudge-free non-toxic image (.53 x 2 inches).
(Oh and you can install a print-to-file driver in windows too, it's included with the OS, just to inform you about the other camp )

Ugh.... at least hire someone from a decent SFX department for deisgn! Move the battery pack (at least that is what I am assuming the part in the case is) under the forearm and place the actual unit above it, behind the hand. You have full use of your hand AND can just point your arm with hand bent down to use the scanner.

my god that thing is enormous! we had ring scanners at fedex and they were just that...a very small barcode scanner on the your ring finger about the size of a chalk block used at pool halls, and a very small mini computer/display on your wrist that told you if the item was scanned or not...etc. they were phased out a while ago though

We tested this at my UPS center and its half as fast as a thermal printer ,slowing everything down. It also prints labels very small in magenta which is very hard to read on any package. The single device cost just under $3000 which is barely cost effective. Maybe it can provide better use in "slower" warehouses.

How can swiping this across a box be slower than printing a thermal label, peeling it off, and slapping it on a box? I saw this at a tradeshow and it is indeed quite fast. The printouts are visible enough, but the red color is no good for barcode use.
I can't imagine UPS using these things, and not getting an ROI out of them. Gas is too expensive for that!

This thing is huge actually... but it has a printer. If you just want the barcode scanning capability with wireless (bluetooth) connectivity have a look at this.

Has been around for about 2 years now or so. Basically HP added a printer, did what it is good at.
