Check it L.E.S hipsters, a laptop that can withstand the stresses of sporting an ironic mustache and deep v-neck Tee around town. The magnesium alloy B51E features ruggedized touches like rubber (baby buggy) bumpers along the edges and a protective film to ward off scratches on the chassis and display. It also features a keyboard with integrated drainage path and hard drive "floated on a sponge protection system" capable of withstanding mojito spills of up to 120 cc / 4 ounces and tabletop drops from 75 cm / 2.5 feet. Oddly, the screen dimensions are not mentioned though the laptop is 14.37-inch wide and tops-out with a Core 2 Duo T8300 proc, up to 4GB of memory, Intel GMA X3100 graphics, up to 320GB disk, and integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam. Now lean in and start maliciously rubbing your hands together -- we've got the abuse video after the break.

cool but would be cooler if it was a sub book
bohsocks @ Jul 3rd 2008 8:52AM
So it can endure you stepping on it.... but can it play Wii Fit?
Metkis @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:35AM
Holy crap, I've been pronouncing it A-SUS not A-SUSE this whole time.
davecrob1293 @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:39AM
haha me too
Peter @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:47AM
Yeah, me too. I like it our way much better.
Ayman @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:52AM

Maybe the guy in the commercial said it wrong
It happens
Gerry @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:53AM
Ah-suse? I'll stick my Ay-Suse ty verymucho
Arthur @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:54AM
Yeah he's saying it right. I've called them for motherboard tech support and that's how everyone says it over there.
I keep calling it A-Sus
James @ Jul 3rd 2008 3:27AM
I'm just going to keep telling myself that he did it wrong :P
henry @ Jul 3rd 2008 4:21AM
and all this time ive been saying it "ay-soos" like Jesus/John Tuturro in Big Lebowski...
Richard Lai @ Jul 3rd 2008 7:36AM
I'd rather stick to A-SUS since most people in Hong Kong and the UK say it that way, and I don't want to sound like a dork.
Daza @ Jul 3rd 2008 10:31AM
"AY-SUSS" sounds a lot like "Acer" so it can cause a lot of confusion. Official, the correct name is "AY-SOOS" or equivalent phonetic spelling.
Michael @ Jul 3rd 2008 11:44AM
LMAO
Ditto -.-
Wolfey @ Jul 3rd 2008 3:04AM
At least its not another Eee-labeled product. Lord knows we've got enough of those now.
ulle53 @ Jul 3rd 2008 3:33AM
I think they should lay several different laptops on the road and run over them with a Ford F350, say a Leveno, Sony and of course a Macbook and see which one still works if any.
lawyer bird @ Jul 3rd 2008 3:44AM
so...this is some kind of hipster laptop? i'm not sure where you're coming from Thomas
Nytrojen @ Jul 3rd 2008 4:18AM
I'm still trying to decipher exactly what a hipster yuppie is... and precisely why they're so tough. I really can't imagine that this is in reference to a "cool" geek. You're either fashionable, or you're tech savvy... and the term "tough" is essentially allergic to both of those lif-forms.
henry @ Jul 3rd 2008 4:14AM
any idea what this bad boy is gonna run? ive been interested in a rugged laptop but not the typical price tags that they carry.
RayVonChong @ Jul 3rd 2008 4:40AM
What does "L.E.S." mean??

nanobis @ Jul 3rd 2008 5:49AM
sweet that would be cool. I can think of all the thing could do with it. Imagin chucking it under a car on the high street, lols.
initialxy @ Jul 3rd 2008 7:18AM
sweet, wonder if it's bullet proof as well.
michas_pi @ Jul 3rd 2008 8:36AM
Nice, but anything is more rugged than a hipster yuppie. Even a grandma with arthritis...driving a Buick Regal.
ShadowKain @ Jul 3rd 2008 8:38AM
You know what we need to do. Get the Smash Lab tv show guys in on this, the Will It Blend guys, and who ever else does damage to tech. and get them to put this baby on the ropes >:)
tyler @ Jul 3rd 2008 9:16AM
Since I like to do most of my computing in the middle of the street or my driveway.. this will come in very handy!
hfm @ Jul 3rd 2008 10:18AM
All that's left is to install RedHat Fedora on it and send it bkl or queens instead...
manimal @ Jul 3rd 2008 10:24AM
I don't know if its just me, but if my laptop got run over, the first thing I'd do is open it to see if theres anything smashed up.. this guy didn't even both, kept it closed so all the little broken bits don't fall out for another retake...
okay, I lied, the first thing I'd do is scream like a little sissy girl... THEN, I'd open it...
I have a durabook, but its nice to see another company hit the rugged market.. hope its not as $$$ as the panasonic
John @ Jul 3rd 2008 10:40AM
It only survives a drop of 2.5 feet? I have a 5 year old Toshiba I accidentally dropped from 6 feet onto a tile floor (landing on a corner of the case) and still runs to this day.
Alex @ Jul 3rd 2008 11:45AM
Yes, but will it blend?
waterboy99troop @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:51PM
will YOU blend... out of existence, please?...
DrMugato @ Jul 3rd 2008 11:46AM
They named it after Spanish Jesus?
Vincent @ Jul 3rd 2008 1:08PM
Oh that's cool... The way the guy pronounce it sounds like "she suck" in French.
ivanotter @ Jul 5th 2008 2:36PM
My Complaint:
Why can they not create ruggedized laptops with DISCRETE graphics cards?
(wants a rugged laptop he can do some decent video/gaming work on)
