Build your own Bluetooth handgun handset, or don't

Want to attract attention (and the police) every time you answer your cellphone in public? Then perhaps this build-at-your-own-risk Bluetooth handgun handset project is for you. As far as DIY mods go, this one looks to be simple enough (if somewhat time-consuming), with it involving nothing more than stuffing a disassembled Jabra Bluetooth headset into a suitably realistic-looking airsoft gun, which apparently fits just right so that the trigger operates the call start/end button. If you're still on board, you can find all the necessary details by hitting up the link below.

Nice! I would like to see if the Justice Department shuts this site down because of giving links to these instructions.

(He gets a call and picks up the real gun instead)...hello...click...bang! (wrong number)

As long as it's not a Glock.
Those are bad for your health.
Lars @ Jul 14th 2008 7:04PM
Well, any gun has the potential to be bad for your health.

Sir, I refer you to the Medic's gun in TF2

But still funny and brilliant.
Kinda reminds me of Futurama.

Boston has no sense of humor. With a flatulent name like Bean Town, you'd think they would.
loosely_coupled @ Jul 14th 2008 9:18PM
HA! This probably wouldn't even phase anyone there. Remember, it's the unequivocally benign objects that cause the irrational hysteria!

Winner: Dumbest Mod Ever.

I fully agree... Next time he's in the middle of an airsoft battle and answers a call instead of shooting his buddy he'll be sorry...
Carl M @ Jul 14th 2008 5:47PM
What about a hands-free version?
Hmm, I suppose it could get tricky if you get someone to hold it for you.

Just make sure you're not using your iPhone to do so, what with its limited Bluetooth support and all...kind of like false advertising there.
Zak @ Jul 14th 2008 6:18PM
Are you really that dumb? False advertising how, exactly? Are you under the impression that you can't use a bluetooth headset with the iPhone? Do tell, this should be good.
Lars @ Jul 14th 2008 7:02PM
/gets popcorn
This should be good.
Actually a friend of mine who owns an iPhone is always whining about the lack of support for wireless headsets and the non-standard plug for wired headsets.

Every human over 25 that still uses a Sidekick and anyone else that doesnt utilize an "inside voice" when talking on the phone in public should be forced to upgrade to this, and walk thru Penn Station in rushhour...on a Friday

what a terribly stupid idea

What? No, no, it's ok, I'm on the phone!
Idlemind @ Jul 14th 2008 6:01PM
This is what is likely to happen if you are driving....
You get a long line of (insert your favorife PD initials here) following you on the highway and at the end of it all, you get a ticket for talking on the phone stapled to your casket after being shot 7000 times for re-enacting the OJ Chase

Enough $$$ for an iPhone, BT headset, and a fake glock. But no money for a hair cut or a razor. We must appreciate that his gadget priorities are in place.
deyanimay @ Jul 14th 2008 6:42PM
Why would he want a razr he has an iphone. JK

That could've been so clever if you'd have just left out the JK.

Nice man, that's the first time I laughed aloud to an engadget comment.
BratPAQ @ Jul 14th 2008 10:30PM
the real gun would normally be heavier, so he can detect it, why not replace it with an unmodified airsoft (burst fire mode)? imagine that little BBs hitting his eardrums, wicked XD
Prokanda @ Jul 15th 2008 4:10AM
I think you've been upgraded to architect.+1.
good stuff there.
Henry @ Jul 14th 2008 6:13PM
I do believe all four rules are being broken in this photograph. Even if it's just an airsoft USP.
