Sonilex is slimmer than the PS3 and like, totally plays Tekken
Hey there, budget-conscious gamers: the Vii didn't quite pan out the way we'd all hoped, but we just want you to know you still don't have to spend $500 or wait for a PS3 Slim to hit the shelves to have a gaming experience worthy of 2008. Just pick Sonilex -- it's a fraction of the size of the PS3, and at around 32 bucks even the most stingy gamer can splurge for it. Word is 41 "NES games" have been released for Sonilex this year alone (probably piled into that odd-looking cart on the left there), including, incredibly but really, the unauthorized NES port of "Tekken." After all, the game cart says "2008" on it so you know you're getting the absolute cutting edge of NES games -- like, ones that were never even released until just now, okay? No word on Blu-ray though. That's a deal-breaker if you ask us.

That is an easy way to break it to them that Santa isn't real. There is no way he could be that cruel.
Anthony @ Oct 23rd 2008 12:59PM
Cruel? Nah. Santa is just getting hit with the economy like everyone else.

This is rubbish & MegaBlocks is a cheap piece of rubbish .
While i can understand that you can'y affored a PS3 but cutting back $5-$10 to get cheap megablocks itstead of Lego .
I have been able to compare both Lego & Megablocks .
Lego all the pieces allways connects all the time while the on the otherhand megablocks cheaper plastic pieces ether a too loose or b too tight .
So come on spend an extra $5 or $10 for something thats good im begging you .

Not worthy of Keepin' it real fake?
y3k.nik @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:18AM
Blu-ray is a bag of hurt anyways....
SOOPERGOOMAN @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:32AM
Eat a big fat one dude, you're just sour because you got stuck with one of those outdated Toshiba HDDVD players. Suck it up and go get a bluray player ya baby.
xcrunk @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:34AM
So are the Wii's 480P graphics.
Guess we'll have to wait 5 years for an HD platform from Nintendo. Hopefully they deem us ready for it.
ArcticFox @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:36AM
*WWWWWWOOOOOOOSHHHHHHHH*
That was the sound of the joke going WAY over SOOPERGOOMAN head.
y3k.nik @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:50AM

The next Nintendo game console is going to be a toaster that prints Mario faces on your toast in the wii hours of the morning.
That is going to be the next generation in Nintendo games. Then, everyone who doesn't even want to play games will buy one! Now that is marketing strategy.
xcrunk @ Oct 23rd 2008 11:05AM
I'm still waiting for Virtual Boy 2.0.
Lars @ Oct 23rd 2008 2:04PM
Sheesh, not everyone cares about 1080p video and 7.1 uncompressed audio. I do, but I also understand that there's plenty of people out there who don't care.
However, I think with the PS3 it is essential (not for movies but for games). Consoles need to move forward by adding HDD's, internet capabilities, modern and legacy video/audio connections, AND the next iteration of optical media. I mean imagine if from the PS1 to PS2 they decided to stick with CD's instead of DVD's! Even if most games at the time of the PS2's launch would fit on a CD, there needs to be room to grow.
Josh G @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:21AM
2008 console? Guess it *has* to play Crysis then.
aardWolf @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:23AM
It does... but the NES port only. :-)
iEye @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:27AM
It may not play Crysis but it does play Crisis...
striggity @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:43AM
really? we're still doing crysis jokes?
Vander @ Oct 23rd 2008 12:15PM
humor recession.
Robert @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:23AM
Cutting-edge NES games... so does it play Mega Man 9?
Backlin @ Oct 23rd 2008 11:26AM
No
SOOPERGOOMAN @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:30AM
I just want one so that I can rip it's guts out and replace it with my psp phats guts and then I'll have a working micro ps3p
Christian Walters @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:40AM
damnit man you are a dumbass!
Félix @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:40AM
Exept for 32$ you get like a f***** anthology of NES games along with a NES ^^
jskrdude @ Oct 23rd 2008 1:56PM
Or for nothing you can an emulator and all the free NES games you could want. I love my hacked psp. (Don't hate me for playing Nintendo games on my PSP, I don't follow fanboy rules of any kind)
Shane @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:40AM
Forget the game console...I TOTALLY want that technicolor power strip in the background...
kevjohn @ Oct 23rd 2008 4:25PM
Is THAT what that is? I thought it was some kind of funky controller.
Man, I can't wait for the next president to hook me up with some phat healthcare l00t so I can go get my eyes checked!
Valicore @ Oct 23rd 2008 8:30PM
Damn that powerstrip is helllllllaaaaaa cool. I can use my chargers from England, the US, and Europe on it!
NHAnimator @ Oct 23rd 2008 10:54AM
Engadget: The PS3 is $399, not $500.
Please.
Patriks7 @ Oct 23rd 2008 11:03AM
If you haven't noticed, the PS3 has no Apple logo on it, so Engadget couldn't care less to get its details right :p
Samuel Axon @ Oct 23rd 2008 11:03AM
Depends on which SKU you buy. US models: 80 GB with no bundled software is $399, 160 GB with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is $499.
Lars @ Oct 23rd 2008 2:09PM
Yes Sam, but still it's kinda like saying Halo 3 is $130... because you COULD buy the legendary box for that much.
chrisp @ Oct 23rd 2008 11:00AM
I think I'll stick to my Pollystation 2. Its compact and doesnt look like a bad rip off of something that had questionable aesthetics in the first place.
Why the heck dont they ever make SNES or mega drive clones? It cant be that much of a technological jump can it?
Eric @ Oct 23rd 2008 1:41PM
They can still be sued for that... it's not 2010 yet.
Farris @ Oct 23rd 2008 5:50PM
There's a video game place down the street from my workplace that sells a machine that plays NES -or- SNES games. It's not a Nintendo product, it's only like 25 bucks, and it's brand new.
I almost bought it... but I got an N64 instead.
fred @ Oct 23rd 2008 11:16AM
Is this one of those systems that plays 1001 different versions of Tekken?
If it is , I can finally toss out my Wii and say goodbye to expensive games forever!
webon @ Oct 23rd 2008 12:06PM
I would have called it Sonyless
Enron @ Oct 23rd 2008 3:21PM
I wanna play the game thats on the TV. Attack of The Green Bars of Power 7! This time, the game is REAL!
Bill Brasky @ Oct 24th 2008 2:24PM
I hope the Dry British Guy reviews it.
