iPhone 3G SIM unlock demoed on video, zero details given
We've already seen the iPhone 3G got unlocked to function on any carrier (and you can already buy unlocked versions in several countries), but we haven't seen a locked handset get unlocked via software only, and the folks at gsmphone-unlocking have the first video we've seen of Steve's newest baby doing the SIM swap dance without any adapters. Yep, there it is, going from Rogers to Fido. Sadly, the video is more of a shameless ploy for publicity than actually useful information, and until we're told otherwise, we're just going to assume that they've just gotten hold of an early copy of the Dev Team's unlocking tool -- which should be free to the public sometime soon. So, you know: video after the break, but feel free to ignore the obnoxious phone numbers and URLs.

don't for get this is in Canada, where rogers owns Fido, and at time you might have seen your signal cross from rogers to Fido, so I don't think it is true unlocking.......I think you might be able to swap between the two...I think I dont have a current Fido sim...but will try and find one to test it out.

I unlock & jailbreak iphones myself. Winpwn 2.0 is out yesterday but it doesn't unlock 3G iphones. There is a competitor here in town who says he can unlock 3G iphones so I sent a spy with a fresh 3G iphone to have it unlocked. Will report back with results....

Unless they actually show it being unlocked, I'm going to think that phone is actually 3 HK's unlocked iPhone.

That is not an unlocked phone...the part numbers for the Rogers iPhone and the Fido iPhone are the same. The Sim card works in both phones whether it was bought from Rogers or Fido. This is just plane snake oil! I have done this with my sisters sim card out of her Rogers Blackberry and my Fido iPhone! Come on !

Just an FYI check out the iPhone Part numbers for Rogers and Fido...they are the same. Thus one might be able to simply conclude that they are interchangeable. A Rogers iPhone can have a Fido SIM a Fido iPhone can have a Rogers SIM, etc....wait for them to prove their footage with technical data.
